I’ve recently discovered the Japanese photographer Wataru Shimosato and her blog An Unknown Quantity (where I could spend hours). I especially like one of her recent posts where she presents (in pictures) her favorite streetstyle photographers, including YoungJun Koo, the blogger behind the site I’m Koo. I love YoungJun’s work and it’s a delight to finally be able to put a face on the character.
There’s nothing like a white shirt. It can be dressed up. Or dressed down. Look simple. Or sophisticated. It is perhaps the most versatile garment. I personally own several because 1/ you never know and 2/ come on, they’re not exactly the same… Or are they? Either way I love this picture by George Elder, the talented photographer in charge of streetstyle over at Four Pins.
As you can probably tell from the last selections I posted (here and here), I am very excited for fall to be back. This is the fifth summer I spend in New York and I have to say… I gets damn hot. I find it impossible to wear a jacket in July and August. And I love jackets. Finally, I can indulge. And comfortably so. Perhaps as comfortably as this gentlemen shot by Søren Jepsen (from the The Locals). Don’t you just love this suit jacket? I do. Along with the accessories, what a cool striped knitted tie, tastefully matching the pocket square.
Our latest selection celebrates the return of Fall. Because as much as I love the sun and the heat of New York summers, I personally think that there’s nothing like dressing for Autumn and Spring. The temperatures really allow you to layer up and (finally) wear jackets and cardigans after a long Summer of wearing exclusively tees and shirts.
So I just realized that I have never posted a picture of menswear retailer extraordinaire Nick Wooster as part of our weekly menswear inspiration feature. And that is very odd. Because Nick is a huge source of inspiration for anyone interested in men’s fashion. Including myself. And so there you have it. Mister Wooster, his tats, his panache, for the first time on Le club des douze.
I discovered Søren Jepsen’s The Locals about three years ago and it quickly became one of my favorite streetstyle blogs. Based out of Denmark and Germany, Søren cruises around Copenhagen and beyond to capture the freshest outfits. Just like this bearded man shot in Berlin last month. His style is simple: a pair of ankle boots, a chino, a black tee shirt and these shades. Oh these shades.
This week, the streetstyle shot that caught our attention is this picture by Giuseppe Santamaria from Men in this town. The summer hasn’t been that hot, at least here in New York, and it’s therefore pretty sweet to stumble upon a truly summery (and well accessorized) outfit! Suit pants, cotton belt, floral shirt, camo pouch and nautical cuffs. I say yes. Also, as many of you know, I’m a sucker for elegant and discrete tattoos. And these definitely hit the mark.
