Earlier this year, we wrote about a US based brand called Hemel. We loved the rugged aesthetics of the timepieces and their exceptional quality, as well as the inspiration behind the brand. We’ve been keeping an eye on the brand’s activity and have been meaning to tell you more about the man behind the company. Without further ado, read on for our Q&A with Marvin Menke, founder of Hemel.
As you know, we love watches. In fact, these last few months, we went on a little editorial world tour, looking for the most beautiful timepieces -from the most conservative to the most minimalist, from traditional retail stores to Kickstarter and from Switzerland to Singapore. Yet, last month, the tour took us back to Paris, where we were invited to preview Baume & Mercier‘s latest men’s collection.
We’ve long been admirers of style icon Porfirio Rubirosa. The fella was considered the last great playboy of the twentieth century. He loved women, piloted aeroplanes, drove racing cars and searched for sunken treasures in the Caribbean. The rumor even has it that he inspired Ian Fleming to create James Bond. Quite the legacy…
Is the sun back? It certainly feels like it. In fact, we spent the weekend in the sun, walking around and enjoying being outdoors. And so we thought that now would be the perfect time to give away a pair of sunnies by one of our favorite London-based spectacle brands, MONC London. To enter, simply follow the instructions on this Instagram post. We’ll pick a winner at midnight on Sunday. It’s happening here. Good luck!
If you’re a keen reader of the club, you’ll know that we’re always on the lookout for aesthetically pleasing objects, to wear, to cook or make drinks with, but also to work out with. Beautiful pieces with a purpose… We published a number of gym and workout selections of menswear over the years but have never really looked into sports accessories -probably because up until recently, we would go to a gym and didn’t need our own gear. But since our daughter was born, we have started working out at home.
