I’ve been traveling for work more frequently, in the last year. I love it, but it comes with its load of sartorial dilemmas –the biggest of which being, of course, how the hell am I going to keep this suit and that white shirt looking crisp! To which you’d probably answer, that’s why they invented garment bags, and you’d be right.
We’ve been following Vasco Watch for a little while now. The brand -based in Bordeaux, France- specializes in the design and manufacturing of 24h watches, a concept that has always intrigued us. Since they recently launched their second collection and Kickstarter campaign, we thought we would tell you a little more about those rather unusual watches.
I have been meaning to write about new French brand Hugo & Simon for a long time. A very long time. We had a chance to look at their products a couple of months ago. But then we moved house… And then we went on holiday… And then Summer arrived and we stopped wearing ties… Since the season is ending (well, at least here in London) and many of our readers will soon be back at work, we thought now was a perfect time to finally tell you about them.
We’re (re)exploring French menswear at the moment. It had been a while since we went on a hunt for those labels that are shaking up the Paris scene, and while looking at a number of new accessories brands, we discovered a company that we now love and felt we had to tell you about: Les Belles Heures.
As you know, we have a slight obsession with workwear, in general, but more specifically with utilitarian chore jackets. A thing of the past, they were once only worn by the artsy kind -late Bill Cunningham was illustrious for his bright royal blue jacket- they’ve been popping out left and right over the last five years. There are a number of independent brands known for there workwear jackets across Europe -Dobson Clothing in the UK, Bleu de Chauffe in France- and we’ve just discovered a newer one, based in Sweden, that we’re really fond of, A Day’s March.
Earlier this year, we wrote about a US based brand called Hemel. We loved the rugged aesthetics of the timepieces and their exceptional quality, as well as the inspiration behind the brand. We’ve been keeping an eye on the brand’s activity and have been meaning to tell you more about the man behind the company. Without further ado, read on for our Q&A with Marvin Menke, founder of Hemel.
